Advances in molecular mechanisms of alcoholic cardiomyopathy

Abstract：Alcoholic cardiomyopathy (ACM), a type of nonischemic dilated cardiomyopathy whose morbidity is rising year by year, is brought on by heavy drinking. With clinical manifestations and diagnosis lacking specificity, the pathogenesis of ACM includes the direct toxic effects of alcohol and its metabolites, oxidative stress, apoptosis and autophagy, mitochondrial dysfunction, abnormal protein metabolism, neuroendocrine system imbalance, and other unknown factors. This article mainly reviews the research progress in the pathogenesis, pathological features, clinical features, diagnosis and treatment of ACM, so as to improve the understanding of medical professionals.
